Zidon his firstborn. See also on Gen. 10:15. Sidon was originally the outstanding city of Phoenicia. Even after Tyre became the more prominent, the Phoenicians were still called Sidonians (Deut. 3:9; Joshua 13:6; 1 Kings 11:5 ; 16:31).
