Theological / Devotional

Singers with instruments. Vocal and instrumental music formed an important part in the religious services of the Hebrews. This was true in the period of the Exodus (Exodus 15:1, 20, 21), during the judges period (Judges 5:1-3; 1 Samuel 10:5), and in the days of David (1 Chronicles 13:8). Musicians were now carefully trained and set apart for the part they were to perform in the religious services (see 1 Chronicles 6:31; 23:5; 25:1—31; 2 Chronicles 29:25-30 ; 35:15).
