Theological / Devotional

Become uncircumcised. Circumcised Jews who become Christians are not to try to hide the fact that they are circumcised, as did certain Jews who forsook Judaism and became pagans (see Josephus Antiquities xii. 5. 1 [241]; 1 Mace. 1:15).

Be circumcised. The initiatory rite of circumcision practiced by Jews in accordance with God’s command given to Abraham was not to be required of Gentile converts to Christianity (Acts 15:24-29).
