Theological / Devotional

Anoint him. The ceremony of anointing was to be carried out by Zadok as priest and Nathan as prophet — both being empowered by their official prerogatives to perform the rite. Samuel, who anointed David (1 Sam. 16:13), was both prophet and priest. Jehu was anointed by one of the sons of the prophets sent by Elisha (2 Kings 9:1-3).
