Theological / Devotional

Thy life. God had delivered Ben-hadad into the hands of Ahab to be destroyed. Ahab failed to sense his responsibility or to take advantage of his opportunity. In the harsh demands made upon him by Benhadad only the year before (vs. 3-6), Ahab should have sensed the character of the man with whom he was dealing, and should have acted accordingly. Benhadad was not to be trusted. He was only playing for time. A few years later Ahab was to pay for his leniency with his life (ch. 22:31-36).
