Commentary on 1 Kings 9:2

Theological / Devotional

The second time. God had first appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, given at Gibeon early in his reign (1 Kings 3:4-15). Again he was given a night vision (PK 45), but this message presents a contrast to the message of the earlier vision. Then the predominant theme was one of promise and encouragement (1 Kings 3:12-14 ; 6:12, 13); now again there were promises and encouragement, but there were also solemn warnings of the sad results that transgression would bring.
