Theological / Devotional

Unto her house. In 2 Chron. 8:11a reason is given for this removal: “Because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.” Since the ark had been brought into the City of David (2 Sam. 6:12), Solomon evidently regarded the entire area as sacred and not suitable for the house of his foreign wife. It has been suggested that the new royal quarters were probably on the hill west of the Temple area, with the Tyropoeon Valley between them.
