Theological / Devotional

Drunken. Eli, the guardian of the sanctuary and the chief authority in law and religion, judged from circumstantial evidence rather than from the heartthrobs of his worshipers. He was measuring Hannah by the criterion of his own experience with his sons, yet he was not past the point where he could understand the unfolding revelation of God. Through Hannah’s experience the Holy Spirit revealed to him that God looks upon the motives of the heart.
