Bring me hither. Like the Pharisees in Christ’s day, Saul was punctilious about the observance of outward forms, even though he himself was neglecting far weightier matters. The people were again loyal to their king’s command. How sin blinds the soul How changed the record might have been had Saul reflected for a few moments on the extent to which the transgressions of the people might be due to his own sin. How many opportunities the Lord gives a man, who chooses to reject divine counsel, to turn back and seek God’s face in all humility How hard it is for that soul, blinded by sin, to accept such opportunities and do as the prodigal did — come home to the Father’s house.
