Theological / Devotional

Pardon my sin. How different was this request from that of the people at Mizpah when they cried out, “We have sinned against the Lord. . . . Cease not to cry unto the Lord our God for us” (ch. 7:6-8). Was his sin against Samuel or against the Lord? Was he as concerned with the change of heart necessary on his part as he was with the loss of face before the people, in the event he lost the kingdom? His future actions were to reveal clearly the true reasons for his conduct.
