Theological / Devotional

Samuel turned again. There were perhaps two reasons why Samuel changed his mind: (1) He wanted to do everything possible to win Saul as an individual. (2) His known disapproval of Saul might lead some of the discontented spirits in Israel to use this as an excuse to revolt. Orderly government must continue even if the king had rejected God’s leadership in order to have his own way.
