2 Corinthians 11:5

Not a whit. That is, not in the least.

Chiefest. Or, “pre-eminent,” “superlative,” literally, “overmuch.” Possibly not a reference to the Twelve but to the false apostles who had been troubling the church at Corinth, whose activities are referred to in verses 3, 4. The Greek temi tends to express disapprobation, and seems to be used in irony rather than seriously. Paul always speaks of the Twelve with great respect (1 Cor. 15:8-10; Gal. 2:8-10). Here he begins the boasting to which he refers in verse 1, comparing himself with these self-appointed apostles (see on v. 1).
