Theological / Devotional

Proclaim a solemn assembly. Literally, “Sanctify a solemn assembly.” Compare the expression, “Sanctify ... a fast” (Joel 1:14). Jehu used language similar to that used for the calling of the most solemn festivals for Jehovah (see Leviticus 23:36; Numbers 29:35; Deuteronomy 16:8).
