Like your own. Assyria’s cruel policy of deportation was here being set before the people of Judah in as favorable a light as possible. They would be carried away, but to a land where life would be as happy and as prosperous as in their homeland. To a certain extent this statement was true, for many of the exiles who were taken to foreign lands found themselves so contented in their new environment that they were unwilling to return when the opportunity was offered them.
