Commentary on 2 Kings 21:24

Theological / Devotional

All them that had conspired. Some encouragement is to be found in the fact that assassination was regarded as a crime and that the conspirators were punished by popular demand. What the intentions of the conspirators were, has not been revealed. Some have conjectured that it was their purpose to put an end to the house of David and place a new dynasty upon the throne. Had this been the intention, however, it is hardly likely that Josiah would have been allowed to live. He was in the power of the conspirators.
