Commentary on 2 Kings 25:18

Theological / Devotional

The captain. Nebuzaradan (vs. 8, 11, 20). He seems to have been a man of character and sound judgment (Jer. 40:2-5). The captain selected a number of individuals for exemplary punishment.

Seraiah. The father of Jehozadak, who was carried into captivity (1 Chron. 6:14, 15), and an ancestor of Ezra (Ezra 7:1).

Zephaniah. A priest of high rank, probably the high priest’s deputy (see Jer. 21:1 ; 29:25, 29; 37:3).
