Commentary on 2 Samuel 13:16

Theological / Devotional

No cause. There was no reason for Amnon to demand his sister’s departure. Having wronged her, the least he could do was to protect her and comfort her. In casting her out he was compounding a felony.

Would not hearken. See v. 14. Amnon had not been brought up to hearken to the voice of reason, conscience, or God. Tamar’s remonstrance meant nothing to him.
