Commentary on 2 Samuel 13:37

Theological / Devotional

Talmai. The father of Maacah, Absalom’s mother (2 Samuel 3:3). Absalom knew that his grandfather would grant him sanctuary, whereas his life would not be safe if he remained in Israel.

Mourned for his son. There is some question as to whether this refers to Amnon or Absalom. It was probably Amnon. David had a tender heart and deeply grieved over the death of his son.
