Theological / Devotional

Let the king remember. Thus far the woman had been entirely successful, but she wished to carry the matter still further. David’s highest regard was for God, and she would not cease until he had committed himself in the presence of God.

As the Lord liveth. With a solemn oath David swore that the life of the son would be protected. He had now committed himself in such a way that he could not withdraw.
