Commentary on 2 Samuel 15:11

Theological / Devotional

Went in their simplicity. The 200 men who accompanied Absalom innocently were probably men of prominence who held influential positions. Once at Hebron, Absalom hoped to win them to his side, and thus they could exert a powerful influence in his favor. Or, failing to secure their support, he could prevent them from engaging in any efforts against him.
