Theological / Devotional

Wood of Ephraim. There is no other reference in the Bible to this wood. The location was in Gilead, to the east of the Jordan, although Ephraim itself was to the west. In a wooded area the huge army of Absalom would find itself at a disadvantage. It would be impossible to keep under control the large number of undisciplined men. Battling here and there in the woods, separated from one another, not knowing what was going on elsewhere, the men would become confused.
