Theological / Devotional

Shields of gold. Probably gold-plated shields. Such shields may have been used largely for purposes of display rather than for protection in actual combat. Solomon also made shields of gold that were displayed in his famous “house of the forest of Lebanon” (1 Kings 10:17). For “shields,” the LXX reads “bracelets.”
