Done thrice. The vision was repeated three times, doubtless that it might remain in the apostle’s mind. Similarly Pharaoh’s dream had been given twice, and Jesus had thrice repeated to Peter the injunction, “Feed my lambs” or “Feed my sheep,” an injunction that now was to take on a new and fuller meaning to him.
