Theological / Devotional

Thy prayer. As contrasted with the parallel passage in verse 4, where the reference is to “prayers,” in the plural, the present passage speaks of “thy prayer,” implying a specific supplication. This gives a greater definiteness to Cornelius’ prayer, and to its object. Doubtless it was for greater light and fuller knowledge of truth.

Thine alms. See on verse 4.

Had in remembrance. A verbal form of the word translated “memorial” in the parallel passage.
