Theological / Devotional

Congregation was broken up. Or “synagogue was dismissed.” As Barnabas and Paul withdrew, many Jews and others followed.

Religious proselytes. Or “worshiping proselytes.” Probably Gentile-born who became fully Jewish in religion, common in Dispersion synagogues (Vol. V, p. 62).

Persuaded. Or “sought to persuade,” “urged.” The verb form implies continuation of exhortation begun in synagogue.

In the grace of God. Barnabas urged Antioch converts similarly (Acts 11:23). Though no converts are recorded yet in Pisidian Antioch, apostles knew inquirers’ intent and urged them to continue “in the grace of God.”
