Theological / Devotional

Consolation. Barnabas, “the son of consolation” (see on ch. 4:36), was a worthy member of such an embassy. Consolation would be felt by both Jews and Gentiles; by the former because they would now know on what basis they could receive the Gentile converts as fellow Christians; by the latter, because they were now free from the yoke of ceremonies and rituals.
