Theological / Devotional

Some itinerant Jewish exorcists, impostors seeking gain, used the names of Paul and Jesus to cure diseases by charms and spells. Jewish tradition ascribed great power to uttering the incommunicable name of God. These vagabond Jews, seeing Paul's results, attempted healings by Jesus' name. Textual evidence favors "I adjure you," uttered by the exorcist.
