Theological / Devotional

The whole city was involved, concerned more with Artemis's glory than silversmiths' gains. The riot began with Demetrius's meeting and spread. Gaius and Aristarchus, Paul's Macedonian companions, were seized, possibly as the crowd sought Paul. Gaius was a common Roman name; Aristarchus was from Thessalonica and had suffered violence before. They may have accompanied Paul from Beroea to Athens or on unrecorded missions.
