Acts 19:6

Paul laid his hands on them, and the Holy Ghost came upon them. This experience was shared by all whose baptism is recorded in Acts. The Spirit came as provision for the great work to change Ephesus from a city devoted to Artemis into a center of Christian life for centuries. They began speaking with tongues, a Pentecostal outpouring, attracting attention and gaining converts. They also began prophesying, signifying a more convicting gospel presentation with exposition of Old Testament prophecy and greater preaching power. Foretelling future events was not necessarily meant here.
