Theological / Devotional

I have seen. The repetition of this phrase is a reflection, in Greek, of an emphatic Hebrew construction, and is well rendered “I have surely seen” in Ex. 3:7. This verse is an abbreviated and composite quotation taken from Ex. 3:7, 8, 10.

I will send thee. Stephen may have used the present verse to suggest to his hearers the way in which Christ, like Moses, had been sent in answer to prayer to relieve affliction and to deliver His people (see on v. 35).
