Prayed. This was the first act of the two apostles. They did not confer the Holy Spirit upon the newly baptized Samaritan believers, but besought the Lord to bestow the Spirit upon them as a sequel to their baptism (cf. ch. 2:38), and as evidence of their being accepted by God.
