Theological / Devotional

As the shepherd. So thorough will the divine punishment be that all except a pitiful remnant of Israel will be involved in it. To the shepherd Amos (see on chs. 1:1; 7:14) this illustration would be quite natural.

Taketh. Literally, “snatches away,” “rescues,” or “delivers.”
