Commentary on Colossians 1:25

Theological / Devotional

Am made a minister. Or, “became a minister” (see on v. 23).

Dispensation. Gr. oikonomia, “arrangement,” “stewardship” (see on Eph. 1:10; Eph. 3:2). The great role that governs Paul is the over-all purpose and plan of God. Paul declares that, in this overruling providence of God, he has now been assigned a stewardship.

Fulfil the word of God. The purpose of Paul’s stewardship is to preach the Word of God. It is the apostle’s aim to carry this out to the full.
