Chaff. For a description of threshing as carried out in ancient Oriental lands, see on Ruth 3:2; Matt. 3:12. Inasmuch as Inspiration has attached no particular significance to the “chaff’ and the “wind” that blows it away (see on Matt. 13:3), it is best to consider them simply details added to complete the picture. For a description of the threshing floor as a common illustration, see on Ps. 1:4; (cf. Matt. 13:3; see Vol. Ill, p. 1111).
