Theological / Devotional

Herald. Aramaic karoz, generally considered to be of Greek origin (cf. the Gr. kerux). Years ago critics offered this as one of the proofs for the late origin of the book of Daniel. H. H. Schaeder, however, has shown that the word is of Iranian origin (Iranische Beitrage I [Halle, 1930], p. 56).
