Theological / Devotional

This is the writing. Daniel proceeds to read the words written on the wall, apparently four words in Aramaic. It is fertile to speculate concerning the nature of this script and its relationship to any other known script (see on v. 8). But, even after the words had been read, they could not be understood except by divine illumination. A whole truth was expressed in each key word; hence the need for an interpretation.
