Commentary on Daniel 7:11

Theological / Devotional

I beheld. In prophetic vision Daniel saw one event rapidly following another.

Note the repetition of the statements “I beheld” and “I saw” throughout the narrative of the visions. These clauses introduce the transition from one scene to the next.

Great words. See on v. 25.

Was slain. This represents the end of the system, or organization, symbolized by the horn. Paul presents the same power under the title “man of sin,” “son of perdition,” “that Wicked,” and speaks of its destruction at the second coming of Christ (2 Thess. 2:3-8; cf. Rev. 19:19-21).
