Theological / Devotional

Host. Heb. saba’, generally meaning “host,” or “army,” and a few times meaning “service,” such as military or compulsory labor (see Job 7:1; 10:17; 14:14; Isa. 40:2). Interpreted as “host,” or “army,” the prediction may refer to the multitudes that fell under the influence of this power. The power would become mighty, “but not by his own power” (Dan. 8:24). See further on Dan. 10:1.

Cast down the truth. The papacy loaded the truth with tradition and obscured it by superstition.
