Stranger. From a noun derived from the verb “to sojourn,” “to tarry,” “to abide.” A better translation would be “sojourner.” The term refers to aliens as temporary residents or as permanent settlers (see Genesis 12:10; 19:9; 47:4; Isaiah 52:4).
