Theological / Devotional

Frontlets. The word thus translated is from a root meaning “to bind,” “to surround.” The noun is found only here and in Exodus 13:16; Deuteronomy 6:8. Taking the admonition literally, the Jews bound a phylactery to the forehead, thinking thus to commend themselves to God (see on Exodus 13:9).
