Theological / Devotional

The rest. “Resting place” would perhaps be better (see also 1 Kings 8:56; Psalm 95:11). The name Noah is derived from the same root. There are many beautiful promises of rest in the OT: rest in God’s presence (Exodus 33:14), rest from sorrow (Isaiah 14:3), and deliverance from foes (Isaiah 14:5-7).
