Olive tree. From season to season the harvest time in particular would remind men of the value and beauty of a compassionate spirit. The existence of the poor among us provides an opportunity for cultivating the spirit of generosity. He who remains callous of heart at harvest time, when he gathers in the bountiful gifts of nature, may scarcely be expected to exercise generosity at other times.
