Theological / Devotional

Brass. The “heavens,” ordinarily thought of as a source of moisture, would, under the curse of God, provide no more water than could be expected from brass (see Lev. 26:19; Jer. 14:1-10).

Iron. Without moisture, the earth would be baked so hard that the primitive tools of the time could not cultivate it. The people would perish for lack of food.
