Commentary on Deuteronomy 28:30
Theological / DevotionalA wife. The “husband” would lose his wife even before the marriage could be consummated. This was accounted as a most grievous curse, as conversely marriage was esteemed a great blessing.
Lie with. The word thus translated means “to ravish,” “to violate” (see Isa. 13:16; Zech. 14:2). It refers to violence such as might be expected of soldiers drunk with victory.
