Theological / Devotional

Ye heavens. Moses opens his song by calling upon men and angels to give ear to the words the Holy Spirit has put in his mouth. These are to be witnesses (see on ch. 31:28) to the majesty and power of God. Compare the psalmist (Ps. 50:4), Isaiah (Isa. 1:2; 34:1), and Micah (Micah 1:2). This is reminiscent of the song of Moses at the Red Sea (Ex. 15).
