Theological / Devotional

Vengeance, and recompense. As the Creator and Lord of the universe Jehovah is its judge. Compare the apostle Paul’s use of this expression (Rom. 12:19; Heb. 10:30).

Their calamity. Compare the warnings concerning Chaldean Babylon (Isa. 47:7-10; 51:6, 8), and the application to spiritual Babylon (Rev. 18:8, 10, 17).
