Commentary on Deuteronomy 9:3

Theological / Devotional

He shall destroy. The pronoun “he” is emphatic; “he which goeth over before thee,” “he shall destroy them,” and “he shall bring them down.” The conquest of Canaan was to be achieved by His power — “so shalt thou [Israel] drive them out.” The glory would be His, not theirs (see Joshua 3:1-11 ; 11:21-23).
