Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. Commentary on Esther 2:15

Theological / Devotional

The uncle of Mordecai. Literally, “the paternal uncle,” or “father’s brother.” Abihail, Esther’s father, was perhaps a brother of Jair (see on v. 5).

She required nothing. Esther accepted the judgment of Hegai without question, in spite of her privilege to wear clothing and jewels of her own choice.
