Theological / Devotional

Zipporah, Moses’ wife. See on ch. 2:21. After he had sent her back. Some commentators have thought that Zipporah left her husband in anger after the circumcision of her son on the way to Egypt (ch. 4:24-26). This view is untenable, since the record does not state that she returned to her father but that Moses sent her back. This he had done for her own safety (PP 255), in view of the danger to which Zipporah and her sons would be exposed in Egypt during the struggle with Pharaoh (see also PP 383).
