Commentary on Exodus 28:38

Theological / Devotional

Upon Aaron’s forehead. This inscription, which was “always” to be on the forehead of the high priest as he ministered, reminded him of his solemn responsibility as the representative of the people. As such, he was clothed, as it were, with the official “holiness” engraved upon the plate. He was a type and representative of Him who was made “sin for us, who knew no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21), and through whom alone real atonement can be made before the Father.
